Jailed Sheikh Rashid to observe hunger strike in Tihar jail

Jailed Member of Parliament and Awami Itihaad Party (AIP) President Abdul Rashid Sheikh has announced that he will observe a 24-hour hunger strike inside Tihar Jail tomorrow. According to AIP chief spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, Rashid has formally communicated his decision to the jail authorities.

The hunger strike, he said, aims to draw attention to the “deafening silence” of national political parties over the plight of hundreds of Kashmiris incarcerated under what he termed as “draconian laws” like the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
