Cover letter Essentials
The Northlines
|May 19, 2025
Most hiring managers these days prefer that candidates send them a cover letter while applying for a position in their organisation. Here are a few things an ideal cover letter must include.
-
A cover letter is a two-minute elevator pitch for someone to get interested in the product i.e. the resume. Hence, it should be appropriately packaged and presented. If this pitch fails to impress, the chance of getting the opportunity is lost. In today's world, where there are other sources of references like LinkedIn, Twitter, web blogs and where resumes are mainly sent through emails, the cover letter assumes more importance and has to stand out from a vast pool of applications.
Though one should not care too much about the "rules" and should try to be memorable and nail down their competencies well to stand out, there are certain points to consider while writing a cover letter.
