OFFICIALS from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted day-long searches at the residence of Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration and senior DMK leader K N Nehru in Thillai Nagar, Tiruchy, and at least 10 other properties linked to his brothers and son in Coimbatore and Chennai districts.
Sources said the searches were based on a case involving the realty firm TVH Builders owned by Nehru's brother K N Ravichandran, which has come under the ED's scanner. Searches were also conducted in the residences of Nehru's son and Perambalur MP K N Arun Nehru, the minister's brother K N Manivannan and his deceased brother K N Ramajeyam.
DMK MP and senior advocate NR Elango told media in Chennai the searches were not related to any corruption case.
"As per information shared by the ED during the searches, they were related to certain bank loans obtained in 2013, for which CBI registered a case in 2021 and a chargesheet was filed later," he said.
