Chouhan: Punjab, J&K, Haryana, Raj to get water as Pak treaty in abeyance

UNION Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said on Thursday that with the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the diverted water will now be utilised for farming in Punjab, J&K, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, and Rajasthan.
Previously, 80% of the water was flowing into Pakistan under this agreement, he said.
The minister said, soon, a law will be enacted to ensure stringent action against companies manufacturing fake pesticides.
Chouhan, who was on a day-long visit to Punjab, was addressing a farmers gathering (Kisan Chaupal) in Rajpura, Patiala. He was accompanied by Punjab Agriculture Minister Gurmeet Singh Khuddian, Punjab Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal, and ICAR scientists.
