B'luru expressway work in limbo, NHAI may nix contract

Only 54% of the work on the 26-km four-lane stretch of the expressway between Arakkonam and Kancheepuram has been completed so far | EXPRESS
THE National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to terminate the contract for the construction of the 26km, four-lane stretch of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway between Arakkonam and Kancheepuram due to prolonged delay in execution of the project by the concessionaire.
Official sources told TNIE that a notice of intent to terminate the contract has been issued to the concessionaire, as work on the stretch has remained suspended since May this year. Only about 54% of the work of the total 26-km stretch has been completed so far. The section was estimated to cost ₹1,525 crore, of which ₹767 crore has already been spent.
