Samudrayan proj: NIOT conducts maiden trials for sea exploration

INDIA's deep-sea exploration made a breakthrough with the National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai, successfully conducting the maiden manned harbour trial of the 'Samudrayan' project.
The trial, held from January 27 to February 12, tested 'Matsya-6000,' a fourth-generation deep-ocean submersible designed for three-member missions.
The successful wet test at the L&T harbour in Tamil Nadu will facilitate shallow-water demonstrations at depths of up to 500 metres by late 2025.
