East Coast Railway Sets Record With 259 Million Tonnes Freight Loading

EAST Coast Railway (ECoR) has set a new benchmark in freight transportation by achieving a record 259.254 million tonnes of originating freight during the 2024-25 financial year, becoming the first railway zone in the country to surpass the 259 million-tonne mark.
The latest figures reflect a 1.2% growth over the previous year, with an increase of 3.034 million tonnes compared to 2023-24.
Other railway zones that crossed 200 million tonnes in freight loading include South East Central Railway (253.208 million tonnes), South Eastern Railway (212.361 million tonnes), and East Central Railway (202.62 million tonnes).
