Tender process for PDS rice rigged to favour a firm: R Siva

|June 14, 2025
PUDUCHERRY opposition leader R Siva has alleged that the AINRC-BJP government led by Chief Minister N Rangasamy favoured a North Indian company while floating the tender for procuring rice for free distribution under the Public Distribution system (PDS).
He said such irregularities undermined the welfare of local farmers and rice millers.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, Siva said the government favoured the firm at the expense of local farmers and rice millers.
Alleging that the 'rigged' tender process benefitted only a pre-selected company, Siva said, "No local rice mill participated in the 2024 tender process as the terms were clearly skewed and the criteria crafted to exclude locals."
