Gig industry faces attrition amid increase in demand

Attrition in these sectors remains alarmingly high at 3540%, creating operational challenges for employers and staffing agencies.

Industry executives say that while festive hiring is driving demand, retaining workers remains difficult. "Over 2.16 lakh temporary and gig roles are being generated this festive season, marking a 15-20% increase over 2024," said Deepesh Gupta, Director and Head of General Staffing, Adecco India. “E-commerce accounts for 35% of the demand, followed by logistics and quick commerce at 15% and 11%. Retail, BFSI, and hospitality are also hiring strongly, especially in Tier 1 and 2 cities."
