Questions why states lack freedom to shape edu policies regionally
THE University Grants Commission's (UGC) increasing control over education policies, from primary to higher education, has sparked concerns among state governments. Many proposals under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which aimed to promote regional languages and cultures, now appear contradicted by the UGC's draft regulations, State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said.
