Say sorry to families of all 24 custodial death victims, grant them aid: TVK chief to TN govt
TVK founder and actor Vijay accused the DMK of hiding behind the BJP by referring the investigation into the alleged custodial death of Ajithkumar, a temple security guard in Sivaganga district, to the CBI.
Speaking at the party's first demonstration, on Sunday at Sivananda Salai, held to demand justice for victims of custodial deaths, Vijay said the CBI continues to be a puppet in the hands of the RSS and the BJP. The DMK, which in the case of the Sathankulam custodial deaths (in 2020) had said that transferring the probe to the CBI was an 'insult' to the Tamil Nadu police, has now proceeded to take refuge in the same agency, he said.
"Why are you hiding behind the union government? It is because the TVK has sought the constitution of a court-monitored special investigation team to investigate the Ajithkumar case," Vijay added.
