Liquor manufacturers must revise declared prices: Excise dept

IN a bid to ensure proper excise revenue to the government, the excise department has issued a circular to manufacturers of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), beer and FL.1 wholesale dealers, stating that brand renewals for 2025-26 will not be processed unless the declared prices (DP) of their products are suitably increased.

According to the circular, liquor manufacturers and importers must revise their declared prices by factoring the cost of raw materials, manpower, logistics, and marketing expenses into the revised declared price as per the annual price revision procedures laid down in a circular dated January 3, 2012. Despite excise duty (ED) and additional excise duty (AED) being revised in 2019, many brands have only increased their maximum retail price (MRP) while keeping the declared price unchanged.
