Farmers Flag Rising Human-Wildlife Conflict, Police Inaction in Vellore

MANGO farmers raised concern over the delay in collecting fine for illegal transport of soil and increasing cases of human-wildlife conflict at the monthly farmers' grievance day held in Vellore on Friday.

Collector VR Subbulakshmi directed officials to ensure prompt action and transparency.

A farmer from Gudiyatham alleged that the Revenue Commissioner was yet to impose a penalty on the owner of the vehicle, seized by Geology and Mining department, for transporting soil. Responding to this, the Gudiyatham RTO said a reassessment was sought as the fine amount was deemed insufficient.

The Collector intervened, questioning the delay. "Why waste time? Impose the fine as per procedure. If the party disagrees, let them apply for reassessment. Do not delay the process," she instructed.
