Srisailam separation from Nandyal opposed

It is never under Prakasam jurisdiction, not even at panchayat level; 'Save Srisailam' against merger move in offing

The reported proposal to merge Srisailam mandal of Nandyal district into the newly proposed Markapuram district has triggered widespread concern across the undivided Kurnool region. Political leaders, activists, and local residents strongly opposed the move, stressing that Srisailam is not just an administrative unit but an emotion rooted in the cultural and spiritual identity of Rayalaseema.

Srisailam MLA Budda Rajasekhar Reddy categorically rejected the proposal, insisting that the temple town has always been part of undivided Kurnool. "The sacred abode of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy and Goddess Bhramaramba Ammavaru has been with Kurnool for centuries. We will not allow it to be separated under any circumstances. This is beyond politics, it is about our heritage," he declared.
