ASSAM government has launched a drive to seal all rat-hole coal mines.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ Guwahati

The action followed the January 6 tragedy at a 300 ft deep rat-hole coal mine in Dima Hasao district. Till now, bodies of four miners have been recovered, while five others are believed to be still trapped.

The incident was caused by flooding. The water could not be pumped out entirely as the mine is connected to some water sources.
