LEFT-HANDED opener C Hari Nishaanth and Sunny Sandhu carved out contrasting knocks to propel SKM Salem Spartans to a challenging 179/8 before defending the total and beat Trichy Grand Cholas by seven runs in the Tamil Nadu Premier League at the CDCA-Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts & Science Cricket Ground here on Tuesday.
In response, Trichy lost four wickets in the powerplay. Mohammed Mohammed and Sandhu ran through their top-order sharing six wickets between them. Mohammed took four wickets to ensure Jagatheesan Kousik's fighting effort went in vain. Kousik took the chase deep, hitting 62 from 39 balls, along with R Rajkumar — who hit 59 runs from 26 balls — but in the end, it was not enough.
