Relief to retired govt employees, steps to streamline release of timely dues
The New Indian Express Tiruchy
|October 12, 2025
IN a major relief to retired government employees, the Centre has introduced a series of measures including setting up of a High Level Oversight Committee (HLOC) for regular monitoring, to ensure that pensioners get their retirement dues and Pension Payment Orders (PPOs) without delay.
The other provisions to make pension disbursement more transparent and efficient include digitisation of service records, universal use of the Bhavishya pension processing portal and introduction of Pension Mitras or Welfare Officers in all departments to assist retiring employees and their families.
The initiatives are part of the comprehensive guidelines issued by the department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) for timely payment of retirement dues and issuance of PPOs.
