Enumeration of crop damage long over, no sight of compensation though: Farmers

THE farmers who participated in the monthly grievance redressal meeting held at the Thanjavur collectorate on Thursday demanded early disbursement of the compensation for the crops, including samba paddy, damaged due to the heavy rains during the northeast monsoon.
At the meeting chaired by Collector B Priyanka Pankajam, Palaniyappan of the Tamil Nadu Cauvery farmers' association said the farmers are yet to be given the compensation though enumeration of the damaged crop had been done long back.
He also wanted the state and the union governments to ensure the insurance companies pay full claims to the farmers whose crops were damaged.
