Pejorative 'Pakistani' not an offence: SC

The Supreme Court has held that using pejoratives like 'miyan-tiyan' or 'Pakistani' are in poor taste but do not constitute a criminal offence intended to hurt religious sentiments.
A two-judge bench comprising justices B V Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma, pronounced the verdict on February 11 after hearing an appeal filed by Hari Nandan Singh, 80, who was accused of making these remarks.
