INDIAS strong economic momentum has prompted analysts to lift the country’s GDP growth forecast for FY26. Rating agency Fitch has revised its India GDP estimate for FY26 to 7.4%, up from 6.9% projected earlier, after growth in the September quarter (Q2FY26) accelerated faster than expected.

GDP grew 8.2% year-on-year in Q2, compared to 7.8% in the previous quarter, led by resilient private consumption and improved real income levels. A sharp moderation in price pressures narrowed the gap between nominal and real GDP, with the GDP deflator rising just 0.5% from a year earlier.
