RESIDENTS of a village in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district have alleged that they were ostracized in their village, at the behest of the sarpanch for consuming prasad (religious offering) given by a Dalit.

- ANURAAG SINGH @ Bhopal

Around 20 families who have alleged social boycott by the other members of the Atrar village in Bundelkhand, hail not just from scheduled caste, but also include families from the upper castes (particularly Brahmins) and those from the other backward castes (OBCs).

While one side, led by the ex-sarpanch (hailing from the scheduled caste), has alleged ostracization in the village by the other group, the other side which, headed by the current sarpanch (a Brahmin) too has approached Chhatarpur district police, alleging that false accusations are being made against them out of long-standing differences.
