DOMESTIC equity market made a muted start to the week and ended almost unchanged as market participants closely monitored the developments surrounding the impending US-India trade deal agreement.

- ENS ECONOMIC BUREAU @ New Delhi

After a flat opening, the benchmarks - BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty - traded within a narrow range throughout the session. The Sensex closed at 83,442.50 levels, marginally up by 9.61 points or 0.01%, while the Nifty 50 closed flat at 25,461.3 levels. In the broader markets, the NSE MidCap 100 index fell 0.27%, while NSE SmallCap 100 index plunged 0.44%.

The sentiments turned cautious after US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated that revised tariffs will come into force from August 1 for countries that haven't finalized an agreement with the Trump administration. However, various reports cited that a US-India mini trade deal could be announced in a day or two.
