Illegal sand quarrying persists unchecked in S'palli

ILLEGAL sand quarrying has been taking place for two months in Sompalli village, Razole mandal, despite a lack of official permission.
Revenue officials, responding to local complaints, inspected the site on March 22 and seized 13 tractors and nine boats.
However, these vehicles were released after fines were imposed, said Razole Inspector TV Naresh Kumar. No formal complaints were filed at the police station.
Illegal sand extraction continued on Monday without action from the mines or irrigation departments, raising concerns about environmental damage.
