Govt Committed to Meeting Polavaram Project Deadline

NDA govt led by Naidu released ₹995.47 cr to benefit 5k displaced families in Jan; ₹150 cr more will be provided soon to 2,300 families

The State government aims to complete the Polavaram irrigation project by December 2027, with priority given to rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) of displaced families. Since assuming power in June 2024, the alliance government led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has released ₹995.47 crore to benefit 5,000 displaced families in January. An additional ₹150 crore will be credited soon to another 2,300 families.

The government has so far acquired 86,981 acres for the project, with another 13,117 acres still pending. It has also identified 12,000 acres for the construction of R&R colonies, including 5,000 acres in Eluru district and the remaining land spread across Rajavommangi, Gangavaram, and Addateegala mandals in the Rampachodavaram agency area of Alluri Sitarama Raju (ASR) district. Of the 6,000 acres needed in these mandals, 3,000 acres have been identified.
