Schools, Colleges Closed Due To Heavy Showers In Shimoga District

There was significant rise in water inflow into all reservoirs, including three major dams

Heavy rains continued to batter across the district on Saturday too and this has paralysed the normal life in the entire district. Following the continuous heavy showers, the schools and colleges remained closed in Shivamogga, Bhadravathi, Shikaripura, Hosanagar, Tirthahalli and Sorab taluks in the district.

There was a significant rise in the water inflow into all the reservoirs including three major dams on Saturday too. Water inflow into Linganamakki reservoir was about 67000 cusecs and outflow was 3,335 cusecs. On Saturday morning at 8 am, the water level was 1,808.35 feet as against the maximum of 1,819 feet. Linganamakki reservoir catchment area received a record rainfall of 165.40 mm. Water inflow into Bhadra reservoir was 21,568 cusecs and outflow also remained the same. Presently the reservoir records water level of 180.6 feet against maximum level of 186 feet. The reservoir yet to get six feet of water to reach its maximum level.

Tunga reservoir reached its maximum level of 587.84 metres on Saturday morning and inflow was 49,139 cusecs and outflow was 49,863 cusecs.
