It's a playground, not Idgah Maidan, claims Eshwarappa

Says just on the basis of land records, the Muslim community's claim on right of the land cannot be entertained

FORMER DyCM and leader of the Rashtra Bhaktara Balaga K S Eshwarappa on Thursday termed the Idgah Maidan as 'Aatada Maidan' (playground) and asserted that there were documents to claim the ground as playground.

Talking to media persons here, K S Eshwarappa said Muslims are trying to acquire this land and claiming it as Idgah Maidan. "In true sense it is not so. There was no mention of the survey number of this land as well as the Chakkubandi (proper demarcation of the land with all the four sides)," he claimed. He said the District Waqf office of Shivamogga submitted a request to the Deputy Commissioner's office on January 9, 2018 to record the Idgah Maidan as Waqf property. "Then the Commissioner of the City Corporation wrote a letter to the Deputy Commissioner that the corporation had received a letter requesting to document the property as Waqf property. But, on investigation it came to know that the property doesn't belong to Waqf," said Eshwarappa.
