While AIT, Chikkamagaluru, is widely celebrated for its academic excellence and cutting-edge departments, there is another dimension to campus life that pulses with equal intensity—its vibrant cultural landscape.

At the heart of this cultural dynamism lies "Chunchana," AIT's annual cultural extravaganza, which, along with numerous other events, transforms the academic calendar into a lively celebration of creativity, tradition, and collaboration.

Chunchana: The Beating Heart of Campus Culture

Held annually, typically in the final months of the calendar year—November or December—Chunchana is much more than just a college fest. Spanning three to five days, it is a high-energy, intercollegiate celebration that draws students from across the region. For over two decades, Chunchana has built a reputation as a flagship event not only at AIT but also within Karnataka's collegiate circuit. Its inclusive nature, open participation across all departments, and wide-ranging events make it the cultural cornerstone of the institute.

From the crackle of stage lights during a fashion show to the quiet intensity of a poetry recital, the festival accommodates diverse forms of expression. Events include group and solo dances, singing competitions, instrumental performances, drama, theatre, and fine arts displays such as rangoli and live painting. Literary contests—debates, quizzes, short story writing, and recitations—add a cerebral edge to the celebrations. In recent years, celebrity guests and live performances have also become a hallmark of Chunchana, adding glamour and drawing larger crowds from beyond the campus gates.
