DASARA is a state festival of seven crore Kannadigas and it belongs to every individual of the state. The Dasara festival celebrated by the state government is different from that of the private Durbar of the Wadiyar family, said Minister for Muzrai and Transport B Ramalinga Reddy here on Saturday.
Addressing media persons, he said, the state government will not interfere in the private durbar programme organised by the erstwhile Mysore royal family as private matter conducted inside the palace.
Mysore-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar who had welcomed the decision of the state government when we decided to invite International Booker prize winner Banu Mushtaq for the inauguration of the government Dasara programme, took a u-turn and started opposing the government's invitation due to the pressure exerted by his party — BJP, he said.
BJP tries to ensure all pranks become relevant in Karnataka politics, which is not possible. Furthermore, as there are no changes to the programme, we will abide by the decision taken by the Chief Minister and deputy Chief Minister, he added.
