All 11 Crest Gates Opened as Reservoir Nears Full Capacity

As the water level in Linganamakki reservoir is reaching its maximum level following incessant heavy rains in the catchment area and considering the heavy water inflow into the reservoir, the KPC authorities opened all 11 crest gates of the reservoir on Tuesday morning.

Talking to TNIE, H R Ramesh, Chief Engineer (O & M) of KPC, Jog, said, "With the water level reaching 1,816.20 feet today and water inflow of 48,393 cusecs and heavy showers in this region for the past couple of days, we expect more inflow of water into the reservoir. So, we opened all the eleven crest gates to release 15,000 cusecs of water from the dam," he said.

Furthermore, Ramesh said that according to the meteorological department forecast, the rainfall may reduce from August 20, and based on the water inflow into the reservoir, a decision will be made whether to stop releasing water or to continue.
