7-yr-old shoots air gun, bro dies; mom blames labourer

IN a shocking incident, a seven-year-old boy allegedly shot dead his older brother when he accidentally pulled the trigger of an air gun at an areca nut farm at Somanahalli, around 10 km from Sirsi, on Friday.

The mother of the deceased, Pavithra Basappa Undi, who is a labourer at the farm, has blamed Nitish Gouda, the caretaker of the air gun used to drive away monkeys at the farm, and farm owner and gun owner Raghav Keshava Hegde.

The entire incident has been captured on a CCTV camera. The footage shows the boy picking up the air gun while playing and pulling the trigger at his brother, who was standing close. The pellet hits his older brother Kariappa, killing him on the spot.
