'Assault on Constitution,' Sonia tells Cong meeting

CONGRESS veteran Sonia Gandhi on Thursday said the Waqf (Amendment) Bill was bulldozed through in the Lok Sabha and termed it as 'brazen assault' on the Constitution.
Addressing Congress MPs at a meeting of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) in Samvidhan Sadan in Delhi, Gandhi said it was the BJP's strategy to keep society in a state of permanent polarisation.
She made the comments hours after the Lok Sabha passed the Waqf amendment bill. 'The One Nation, One Election Bill' is another subversion of the Constitution and the party would strongly oppose it, the Congress leader asserted.
