Ranya Rao used hawala channels to buy gold: DRI

ACTOR Ranya Rao, accused in the infamous gold smuggling case, has admitted to using hawala channels to facilitate gold purchases, the prosecution stated in its objections filed against granting her bail on Tuesday.
The prosecution also presented evidence suggesting her direct role in the illicit transfer of funds.
The court has reserved the order on her bail plea till Thursday.
The advocate representing the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Madhu Rao, informed the court that Ranya had admitted to using hawala channels, which strengthens the case against her.
