THE World Cup-winning feat of 22-year-old pace sensation Kranti Gaud has not only brought pride to Indian cricket but also revived hope for her suspended father's reinstatement in the police force.

- ANURAAG SINGH @Bhopal

Kranti, who shared the new ball with the experienced Renuka Singh Thakur during India's triumphant ICC ODI Women's World Cup campaign, was felicitated by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav at a function held in Bhopal on Friday. The celebration was a family affair. Along with Kranti, her parents, Munna Singh Gaud and Neelam Singh Gaud, and her coach, Rajeev Birthare, were also honoured on stage. In a heartening gesture, the Chief Minister assured Kranti that her father's long-pending case would be reviewed sympathetically.

SHOOTING STAR WHO LIT UP SCREENS & LIVES

NE of the best times I have had at the movies was watching a newly-restored print of Ritwik Ghatak's 1958 film Ajantrik (known variously in English as The Mechanical Man or The Pathetic Fallacy) at the 2019 Pingyao International Film Festival in China.
