All arrangements in place, CM to release water from Kallanai today

ARRANGEMENTS are in place at the Grand Anicut (Kallanai Dam) ahead of the event on Sunday evening during which Chief Minister M K Stalin will release water into the Cauvery river from Kallanai by opening the sluice gates of the dam.
The final phase of works, including painting the remaining walls of Kallanai, was taken up on Saturday, with similar painting works already completed at Cauvery, Vennaru, Kollidam and Grand Anicut Canal. The water from Mettur Dam released by the chief minister on June 12 is expected to reach Kallanai on Sunday.
