AFGHANISTAN's Taliban government said on Thursday that Pakistan carried out two drone strikes on Kabul the day before, even as the United Nations welcomed a critical ceasefire between the two neighbors after days of fighting killed dozens in both countries and injured hundreds more.

The Wednesday attacks came just before the two countries declared a truce following the deadliest violence between them in years. The clashes had amounted to the deadliest crisis between the neighbors since 2021, when the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan following the collapse of the Westernbacked governmen
