Retired prof launches endowment for 2nd rank holder in M.Sc Chemistry

But breaking from that notion, a retired professor from the University of Mysore has initiated a cash award specifically for the MSc Chemistry student who secures second rank in the exams.

Prof Y B Basavaraju, who joined the Department of Chemistry on the Manasagangotri campus in 1999 as a Reader, went on to serve there for over 25 years before retiring last year as Professor. Affectionately known as "YBB" among colleagues and students, he has guided many scholars through their PhD and post-doctoral research.
