Legal profession is a test match, not a T20: SC Judge Justice Bhuyan

Supreme Court Judge Justice Ujjal Bhuyan on Saturday said the legal profession is not like a T20 or a one-day cricket match, but a test match that demands patience, technique and the ability to play a long innings.
Speaking at the 17th Graduation Day celebrations of JSS Law College here, Justice Bhuyan said young lawyers have diverse opportunities in litigation, judiciary, academia, corporate sector, and policy think tanks.
"For a successful lawyer, the sky is the limit. Success comes with courage, integrity and self-respect. A lawyer is not merely a spokesperson for the client but also an officer of the court who commands respect in society. In modern history, lawyers have played a central role in the freedom struggle, nation-building and drafting of the Constitution. They continue to remain at the heart of India's social and political life," he said.
