THE toy train in Darjeeling remains a popular attraction for tourists visiting the hill station. Despite a few accidents in the recent months, its charm and appeal are intact. This year marked the 144th anniversary of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR), celebrated on July 4. For the first time, the DHR has held a programme for the toy train's birthday. The birthday was jointly organised by DHR, which has received the UNESCO 'World Heritage' status, and the North Bengal Painters Association. The 'Toy Train Day' was celebrated at Sukna Railway Station in North Bengal on Friday.
