Department of Archaeology, Museums, and Heritage restored the iconic building
THE historic Wellington Government Museum and Art Gallery in Mysuru, which was undergoing restoration, was formally inaugurated by Tourism Minister H K Patil here on Friday. The new art gallery housed in the iconic Wellington Building on Irwin Road underwent extensive renovations.
Department of Archaeology, Museums, and Heritage spearheaded the restoration, spending ₹80 lakh in structural conservation and an additional ₹19 lakh for interior renovations, ensuring that the building retains its grandeur while being adapted for modern museum standards.
