Give priority to quality in rly works, says Somanna

'No one is indispensable in the Railway Department. Officials must interact with the public courteously. Mistakes will not be tolerated'

UNION Minister of state for Railways V Somanna emphasised the importance of maintaining high standards in railway works, asserting that there should be no compromise on quality. He was speaking at a review meeting with Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mudit Mittal and other officials at the DRM office in Mysuru on Sunday.

During the meeting, DRM Mittal provided updates on ongoing projects in the division. He informed the minister that five additional platforms are being constructed at the Mysuru railway station at an estimated cost of Rs 439.3 crore. As part of the project, a subway and a skywalk will be constructed, along with new staff quarters which are currently under progress, he said.

"Eight acres and 29 guntas of land have been identified for the proposed Naganahalli Yard. However, the land acquisition process is facing hurdles and a request has been sent to the state government for intervention," he said.
