Hundreds of activists from Dalit and progressive organizations took out a rally in KR Pet taluk on Tuesday, demanding a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the suspicious death of a Dalit man, Jayakumar.

The march began at the Travellers' Bungalow and concluded at the taluk office with protesters raising slogans and holding placards seeking justice for Jayakumar. Activists alleged that Jayakumar's death, which police have classified as a suicide, was in fact a murder orchestrated by a known rowdy-sheeter.
