AFTER several BJP leaders including Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar and activists from various organisations expressing their objections over the renaming of the road stretch between Sri Lakshmi Vekataramanaswamy Temple Circle at Vontikoppal and Royal Inn Junction at Metagalli as 'Siddaramaiah Arogya Marga', a delegation of Congress leaders led by KPCC spokesperson M Lakshmana met Mysuru City Corporation commissioner Asad-ur-Rehman Shariff asking him to consider the proposal.

The delegation including Mysuru District Congress Committee president B J Vijaykumar, city president R Murthy, MLC D Thimmaiah, former MLA M K Somashekar, Karnataka Exhibition Authority chairman Ayub Khan, former MUDA chairman H V Rajeev, former mayors BL Bhyrappa, Arif Hussain, Modamani and Pusphalatha Chikkanna and others led by Lakshmana met the MCC commissioner and held discussion before submitting a memorandum. Lakshmana said Chamaraja MLA K Harish Gowda had submitted a request letter to the Deputy Commissioner seeking to name the road after Siddaramaiah and based on the proposal, the government had issued notification seeking objections from the public on December 17.
