Cash-strapped UoM Presents ₹107 Crore Deficit Budget

THE University of Mysore, grappling with a severe financial crisis, has presented a deficit budget of ₹107 crore for the academic year 2025-26. The budget was tabled and approved during the Academic Council meeting held at Crawford Hall on Friday evening by finance officer K S Rekha.
The projected revenue for the current financial year stands at ₹295.59 crore, while the estimated expenditure is ₹403.31 crore, leading to a deficit of ₹107.72 crore. If the state government had released the full pension grant of ₹157.54 crore, the shortfall would have been only ₹18 lakh. However, with only ₹50 crore allocated, the deficit has widened significantly.
