UNION Minister for Rural Development, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Friday urged people to adopt swadeshi products to strengthen the nation's economy.

Inaugurating the 'Shathothara Dashamanotsava', the 110th birth anniversary of Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Mutt seer Shivaratri Rajendra Swamiji, at Sri Suttur Mutt here, Chouhan recalled that in the past India depended on the US and other countries for food grains.

"Today, India is self-reliant and even exports wheat, rice and millets, especially grown in southern states. We have broken all records in food grain production and are on course to become the food basket of the world. To achieve this goal, we must rise above political differences. With the US imposing high tariffs on Indian imports, it is our duty to take a pledge to use Made in India products daily to boost our economy," he said.
