Udupi DC seeks Rs 60 crore for coastal protection works

UDUPI deputy commissioner (DC) Vidya Kumari K has written a letter to the commissioner of the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) seeking Rs 60 crore fund allocation to implement coastal protection and shoreline restoration measures in the district.
The proposal, made as per the Karnataka Shoreline Management Plan under National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF), seeks funding for four major projects to curb sea erosion in four assembly constituencies of the district. These include the construction of sea walls and short groynes along with sand nourishment in Kaup, Udupi, Kundapur and Byndoor constituencies.
