Sitharaman lauds spiritual traditions, urges nation's unity

UNION Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that Udupi occupies a special place in her life, attributing her resilience in the face of adversity to the divine grace of Lord Krishna and the fervent prayers of the Ashta Mutt seers.
Speaking after being honoured with the 'Bharata Lakshmi' title by Paryaya Sri Puttige Mutt, she praised the Mutts' unbroken tradition of worship, their Annabrahma kitchen feeding thousands daily and initiatives like Koti Gita Lekhana Yajna. She urged unity as the path to India's prosperity. She was in Udupi to inaugurate the newly readied 'yali projection architecture' for the temple pouli at Sri Krishna Mutt. She also participated in the inauguration of Sri Puttige Mahila Vidyapeetha.
