Rain batters Udupi; roads, vehicles damaged, traffic disrupted

HEAVY rain that lashed Udupi city and other parts of the district on Tuesday caused damages to roads and properties and in some places, rainwater gushed into residential areas and shops.
Two parked cars were damaged in the parking lot of Udupi railway station due to a tree fall incident around 8.45 am. Due to caving in of the road in Laxmindra Nagar in Manipal, vehicle movement was disrupted.
Rainwater entered some of the shops here and stones were seen rolling down on the road near Inox Multiplex and Laxmindra Nagara. Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna visited the spot and asked officials to take temporary measures to clear the roads.
