HUNDREDS of residents from the community participated in the Arebhashe Gadinada Utsava organised by the Arebhashe Sahithya Academy.
The event highlighted how there is a need to preserve and promote regional languages.
Addressing the gathering during the event, Purushothama Bilimale, chairman of the State Kannada Development Authority, expressed, "Language, literature and culture of several regional communities is coming to an extinct, and this is a worrying development. It is necessary to preserve the mother tongue by using them. Various academies must work towards promoting the language and draw an agenda for its development."
