THE vexed Socio-Economic and Educational Survey, popularly known as the caste census report, prepared by the Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes will be implemented in the state, but prior to that, a consensus in the cabinet will have to be achieved, asserted revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda. As his address at the district level Republic Day programme held in Udupi revolved much around equality and empowerment of the marginalised groups, reporters sought to know whether the Congress government too has kept the caste census report submitted by Karnataka State Commission for Backward Classes under its then Chairman K Jayaprakash Hegde in the cold storage. Responding to this query, Krishna Byre Gowda maintained that Congress has a wish for implementing it, as it emphasizes on providing preferential treatment to marginalised groups.
