Education, Employment Can Transform Society: Minister

Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao on Friday said priority is being given to strengthen infrastructure in taluk health centres to improve maternity and delivery care services, besides general surgery.

During the Arogya Raksha Samiti meeting held at the district Wenlock Hospital premises, the minister said two gynaecologists, paediatricians and anaesthetists each will be appointed to all taluk hospitals, and 24x7 service will be ensured. "We will transfer these experts from community health centres where there is less patient load. At present, we have only one gynaecologist, pediatrician and anaesthetist each in taluk hospitals," he said.

Rao assured that the cathlab established at Wenlock Hospital will soon start operations, and stent installation and other heart ailment related procedures will be free of cost for BPL cardholders. "For angiogram procedure under ABARK scheme, Rs 5,000 has been fixed for BPL cardholders, and we will ensure even this procedure is free," he said.
